Al-Wahid (الْوَاحِدُ) means The One. It is name 66 in the well-known list of the 99 Names of Allah. Al-Wāḥid is One: no partner in His lordship, His worship or His names. Tawhid, the first teaching of Islam, comes from this root.
The root and its meaning
Al-Wahid comes from the Arabic root و ح د (w-ḥ-d), which carries the sense of oneness.
Where it is in the Quran
Al-Wāḥid is often followed by Al-Qahhār.
Surah Yusuf 12:39
Yaa saahibayis sijni 'a-arbaabum mutafarriqoona khayrun amil laahul waahidul qahhaar
O [my] two companions of prison, are separate lords better or Allah, the One, the Prevailing?
Quran 12:39. Arabic: Uthmani text (Tanzil). English: Sahih International.
Surah Ar-Ra'd 13:16

Say, "Who is Lord of the heavens and earth?" Say, "Allah." Say, "Have you then taken besides Him allies not possessing [even] for themselves any benefit or any harm?" Say, "Is the blind equivalent to the seeing? Or is darkness equivalent to light? Or have they attributed to Allah partners who created like His creation so that the creation [of each] seemed similar to them?" Say, "Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Prevailing."
Quran 13:16. Arabic: Uthmani text (Tanzil). English: Sahih International.
Calling on Allah by this Name
Allah says: "And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them" (7:180). Begin your dua with يَا وَاحِدُ (Yā Wāḥid) and ask for what fits its meaning. For example: "Yā Wāḥid, make my heart turn to You alone."
From the Sunnah
Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahū lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamd, wa huwa ʿalā kulli shayʾin qadīr
There is no god but Allah alone, with no partner. His is the kingdom and His is the praise, and He has power over all things. (Saying it 100 times a day is like freeing ten slaves.)
