Meaning and lessons

What Quran 65:3 means, in brief.

The ayah before says: whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him. This one continues: and He will provide for him from where he does not expect. Whoever relies on Allah, He is sufficient for him. Allah will carry out His purpose, and He has set a measure for everything.

Ibn Kathir cites the hadith of Umar: "If you relied on Allah as He should be relied on, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds: they go out hungry in the morning and come back full in the evening" (Jami at-Tirmidhi 2344, graded hasan sahih). The birds go out; reliance includes effort. These ayat sit in the middle of the rules of divorce, a reminder that hard family moments are also covered by this promise.

Lessons from this ayah
