    Guide

A daily ayah, and how to live with it.

Each day this page shows one ayah, or a short passage, from a list of 120 chosen from across the Quran: ayat about Allah, patience, mercy, dua, parents, the Hereafter and how to treat people. Everyone sees the same ayah on the same date, so you can share it with family and friends and reflect on it together. The list repeats every 120 days.

How to spend five minutes with it

    1. Listen first. Press Listen and follow the Arabic, even if you do not read it yet.
    2. Read the meaning slowly. Ask what it tells you about Allah, and what it asks of you.
    3. Read it in context. The reference links to the ayah inside its surah, so you can read what comes before and after it.
    4. Carry one phrase. Repeat a few words of the Arabic through the day, or memorise the whole ayah with the repeat player.

Allah describes the Quran as "a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, that they might reflect upon its verses" (38:29). The Prophet ﷺ said the deeds most loved by Allah are those done regularly, even if they are small.1 One ayah a day, read with attention, is that kind of deed.

    Questions

    Good to know.

Is the ayah of the day the same for everyone?

Yes. It depends only on the date, so everyone opening the page on the same day sees the same ayah. It changes at midnight in your own time zone.

    Can I see yesterday's ayah?

Yes. The side panel lists the last seven days, and the Previous day button goes further back.

    Which translation is used?

Sahih International. The Arabic is the Uthmani text from Tanzil, and the audio is Mishary Rashid Alafasy.

    How are the ayat chosen?

They are ayat that make sense on their own and that people often look for: duas from the Quran, ayat on patience, mercy and trust in Allah, and well-known passages such as Ayat al-Kursi and the end of Al-Fajr.
