Meaning and lessons

What Quran 75:3-4 means, in brief.

A person asks whether Allah will gather his bones after they have crumbled. Allah answers: yes, We are able to proportion even his fingertips. Ibn Kathir reports the explanation of Ibn Abbas and others: Allah could have made his hands flat like a camel's hoof, without fingers, and He is able to restore the finest parts of a person exactly as they were.

Many modern readers point to fingerprints, which are unique to each person. That reading is not in the classical tafsir, but the ayah's point is the same either way: the One who made the smallest detail of your body can bring it back.
