Meaning and lessons
Revelation paused for a time, and the Prophet ﷺ was saddened while some of the idolaters mocked that his Lord had left him (Sahih al-Bukhari, narrated by Jundub). Surah Ad-Duha came to reassure him: your Lord has not left you or hated you, and the Hereafter is better for you than the first life.
Ibn Kathir explains that the Prophet ﷺ was the most detached of people from this world, and cites his words: "What have I to do with this world? I am like a rider who rests in the shade of a tree, then leaves it" (Jami at-Tirmidhi, graded sahih). The next ayah promises: your Lord will give you, and you will be pleased.
