Short answer
Not as a proven fact. The Quran calls Makkah the "Mother of Cities", but no Quran verse or authentic hadith says it is the geographic centre of the earth. Modern claims about Makkah and the golden ratio or magnetic fields are not established science. Makkah's status rests on revelation, not on measurements.
This is not a fiqh question. Makkah is the most sacred place on earth and the qiblah by the Quran and sunnah; Muslims do not need a geographic claim to affirm it, and should not attribute unproven claims to Islam.
The four schools agree on this.
Explanation
The Quran twice calls Makkah Umm al-Qura, the Mother of Cities. Classical commentators explain this as its being the most honoured city, the place of the first House of worship, and the city others turn to. Some early reports, not authentic sayings of the Prophet ﷺ, describe the earth as spread out from beneath the Kaaba. Scholars mention these in tafsir, but they are not proof of a measured centre.
- The earth is a sphere: its surface has no single centre. Any point can sit at the middle of a map depending on the projection used.
- Golden ratio and magnetic claims: these circulate online but are not established by geographers or physicists. Repeating them as Islamic facts can make the faith look careless with truth.
- What is certain: the Kaaba is the first House of worship for mankind, blessed and a guidance for the worlds, and every Muslim faces it in prayer.
Makkah's honour comes from Allah choosing it, not from its position. For why it is so honoured, see why Makkah is the holiest city, and for the direction of prayer see why Muslims face Makkah and our qibla finder.
The evidence
Quran, Surah Al-An'aam 6:92
And this is a Book which We have sent down, blessed and confirming what was before it, that you may warn the Mother of Cities and those around it. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in it, and they are maintaining their prayers.
Makkah is called the Mother of Cities.
Quran, Surah Aal-i-Imraan 3:96
Indeed, the first House [of worship] established for mankind was that at Makkah - blessed and a guidance for the worlds.
Makkah's honour is that of the first House of worship.
Where the ruling is recorded
- Radd al-Muhtar (Ibn Abidin), Kitab al-Salah, bab shurut al-salah, on the qiblah. The Kaaba as qiblah for all Muslims wherever they are.
