Short answer
Yes. In the Hanafi school it is mustahabb (recommended) to delay Isha to shortly before a third of the night has passed; delaying it to midnight is allowed, and delaying it after midnight without an excuse is makruh. But praying with the congregation comes first, and if you might fall asleep, pray it early.
Delaying Isha until shortly before a third of the night has passed is mustahabb; up to the middle of the night is permissible; and past midnight without an excuse is makruh, though it is valid until dawn. Sleeping before Isha and idle talk after it are disliked.

- Delaying Isha to a third of the night is better, as long as it causes no hardship to the people praying.
Explanation
The Prophet ﷺ once delayed Isha deep into the night and said that this was its time, were it not that it would be hard on his community. On another occasion he said that if it were not a burden, he would have told them to delay Isha to a third or half of the night. Hanafi scholars took from this that a moderate delay is recommended.
- Mustahabb: before the first third of the night ends.
- Allowed: up to the middle of the night.
- Makruh: after the middle of the night without a reason. It is still valid and not qada until Fajr.
The night here runs from sunset to true dawn, not to sunrise. The Islamic midnight calculator works out the third and the half for you.
Two things come before this recommendation. First, men should pray Isha with the congregation at the masjid, whatever time it sets. Second, if you are likely to fall asleep and miss it, pray it early. The Prophet ﷺ disliked sleeping before Isha, and scholars explain that the risk of sleeping through it is the reason.
