Short answer
In the Hanafi school the awrah must stay covered even when you are alone, unless there is a need, so you should not sleep fully naked on your own; wear at least something covering from the navel to the knees. Husband and wife may sleep together without clothes, and men may sleep without a shirt.
Covering the awrah is wajib even in private, except for a need such as bathing or intimacy with one's spouse. Sleeping naked alone without need is therefore not permitted. Spouses together may sleep uncovered.

Explanation
A Companion asked the Prophet ﷺ which parts of the body must be covered and from whom. He said: guard your awrah except from your wife. The man asked: what if one of us is alone? He replied: Allah is more deserving of modesty than people.
On this basis the Hanafi jurists say that covering the awrah is required even in private, according to the sound view, unless there is a need. Needs include using the toilet, bathing, changing clothes and intimacy with your spouse. Sleeping is not a need for nakedness, so sleeping fully naked when alone is not permitted.
What this means in practice:
- Men: the awrah is from the navel to the knees. Sleeping without a shirt, in shorts that cover the knees or under a sheet with underwear and shorts, is fine.
- Women: wear something that covers at least the same area, and more is better.
- Husband and wife: there is no awrah between spouses, so they may sleep together without clothes.
- Hot nights: light, loose clothing covering the awrah meets the rule.
- Under a blanket: a blanket covers you, but it slips. Many Hanafi muftis say that relying on it alone is still short of the required covering. Wear something.
The Shafi'i and Hanbali schools also require covering the awrah in private except for need, while the Maliki school treats it as recommended. Modesty before Allah is part of iman, and it grows with these small daily habits. See also what is awrah.

Quran, Surah Al-A'raaf 7:26
يَٰبَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ قَدْ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاسًۭا يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَٰتِكُمْ وَرِيشًۭا ۖ وَلِبَاسُ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌۭ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ ﴿٢٦﴾
O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember.
Clothing that covers the body is a blessing Allah gave to people.
