Surah for anxiety, stress and worry
No hadith names one surah as the cure for anxiety. What the Quran and Sunnah give instead are ayat that settle the heart and duas the Prophet ﷺ taught for worry. Recite them slowly and think about what they say.
Allazeena aamanoo wa tatma'innu quloobuhum bizikril laah; alaa bizikril laahi tatma'innul quloob
Those who have believed and whose hearts are assured by the remembrance of Allah. Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured.
The clearest ayah on peace of heart. When worry starts, make dhikr the first thing you reach for.
Quran 13:28.
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
Revealed to comfort the Prophet ﷺ in a hard time in Makkah. The promise of ease is said twice.
Quran 94:5-6.
Wa Zan Nooni iz zahaba mughaadiban fazaanna al lan naqdira 'alaihi fanaadaa fiz zulumaati al laaa ilaaha illaaa Anta Subhaanaka innee kuntu minaz zaalimeen
And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."
Yunus called out from inside the whale. The Prophet ﷺ said that no Muslim calls on Allah with these words for anything but Allah answers him.
Jami at-Tirmidhi 3505, graded sahih by al-Albani.

Those to whom hypocrites said, "Indeed, the people have gathered against you, so fear them." But it [merely] increased them in faith, and they said, "Sufficient for us is Allah, and [He is] the best Disposer of affairs."
"Sufficient for us is Allah, and He is the best Disposer of affairs." Ibn Abbas said Ibrahim said it when he was thrown into the fire, and the Prophet ﷺ said it when told that an army had gathered against him.
Sahih al-Bukhari 4563, from Ibn Abbas.
Wa yarzuqhu min haisu laa yahtasib; wa many yatawakkal 'alal laahi fahuwa husbuh; innal laaha baalighu amrih; qad ja'alal laahu likulli shai'in qadraa
And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
Trust in Allah (tawakkul) is the Quran's answer to fear about the future.

Revealed after revelation paused for a time and the Prophet ﷺ was taunted that his Lord had left him. It answers: "Your Lord has not taken leave of you, nor has He detested you."

And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided.
Allah promises blessings and mercy to those who say it when a loss strikes. The Prophet ﷺ taught Umm Salamah to add: "O Allah, reward me in my loss and give me better than it." She said it when her husband died, and Allah gave her the Prophet ﷺ as a husband.
Quran 2:155-157; Sahih Muslim 918, from Umm Salamah.

The evil eye is real, and the Prophet ﷺ treated it with ruqyah: Quran and dua recited over the person. These are the surahs with a sound source.

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak From the evil of that which He created And from the evil of darkness when it settles And from the evil of the blowers in knots And from the evil of an envier when he envies.
The Prophet ﷺ used to seek refuge from the jinn and from the evil eye of people until Al-Falaq and An-Nas were revealed. Then he used them and left everything else.
Jami at-Tirmidhi 2058, graded hasan; Sunan Ibn Majah 3511.
A Companion recited Al-Fatiha over a man stung by a scorpion and he recovered. The Prophet ﷺ approved and asked: "How did you know it is a ruqyah?"

Recited as ruqyah over a man stung by a scorpion, with the Prophet's ﷺ approval: "How did you know it is a ruqyah?"
Sahih al-Bukhari 2276.

Surah for hardship and difficult times
The Quran never promises a life without hardship. It promises that ease comes with it, and that patience and prayer carry you through.
For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease. Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
"Indeed, with hardship will be ease." Early commentators noted that "hardship" has the definite article both times and "ease" does not, so one hardship will not overcome two eases.
Quran 94:5-6.

Surah for children: teaching, protecting and having them
For children there are three needs: what to teach them first, how to protect them, and what to ask Allah for when you hope for a child.
Start with Al-Fatiha, then the short surahs of Juz Amma: Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Nas, Al-Kawthar and Al-Asr. They are needed for prayer and easy to memorise.
